Saturday Night Live has a habit of taking real life issues and hot topics and turning them into skits. So when a skit of them mocking the body positivity movement surfaced, I was not surprised at all.
Welcome to Chonk.
According to SNL, Chonk is a clothing store for women of all sizes. It’s the type of store we all dream of because you’re accepted just the way you are.
SNL comedians Aidy Bryant, Leslie Jones, Vanessa Bayer, Sasheer Zamata, and Melissa Villasenor star in an ad that starts out empowering. “You’re ready to rock it!” shares the voiceover. Things take an abrupt turn when the same announcer repeats the word Chonk over and over again in the most disrespectful way possible.
Take a look at the body positivity parody and tell us what you think?
