Ashley Nell Tipton made history on November 5, 2015, when she was named the first-ever plus size designer winner during Project Runway’s Season 14. She took a risk and showed her final collection during NYFW on real plus size women, and folks all over the world celebrated size diversity in a major way. It was such a proud moment to see curves on that prestigious runway–showing the world that curves are in, and they are not going anywhere. Now less than a year later, JCPenney is introducing Ashley Nell Tipton for Boutique+™, available exclusively in over 500 stores and online at jcpenney.com. Thank you to JCPenney for providing me a first-row look at the fantastic line in the heart of the Garment District in NYC. Hundreds graced the streets of NYC to catch a glimpse of the collection and all the excitement.
As a curvy fashionista, I am so excited that a major brand and household name like JCPenney partnered with Ashley to deliver such a fabulous collection. Not only is Ashley an amazing designer but she is also a plus size woman like us, she understands our fashion struggles and desires to be fashionable, trendy and do it on a budget. Very few retailers have been able to provide all three needs effectively, but with the introduction of Boutique+™, JCPenney is offering a brand that meets all three requirements. Boutique+™ sizes range from 0x-4x and 16W-30W in stores and online at http://www.jcpenney.com/. Also, size 5x is available online on selected items. Sale prices range from $15.99 to $74.99.
For this season, Ashley Nell Tipton for Boutique+™ features curve-enhancing looks inspired by 1950’s fashion, which she always expressed is her favorite era. The collection includes slash knee jeggings (one of my favorites) quilted pencil skirts, cape-sleeve blouses; boyfriend tees, bomber jackets and much more.
What I enjoyed the most about the collection were the design elements such as lipstick prints, bold horizontal stripes, and leather. I am speaking for all confident plus size women, we no longer hide behind all black attire or feel ashamed to be the center of attention, Ashley Nell Tipton for Boutique+™ screams “look at me because I am fabulous.” Here are some of my favorite looks from the runway that are available now on http://www.jcpenney.com/.
I was also excited to see athleisure gracing the runway as well. Since I am part of the healthy curve movement I always believed when you look good at the gym, you feel good, and that helps you work out harder. I plan on purchasing all three options ASAP.
Sephora Inside JCPenney and JCPenney Salon provided hair and makeup for all the models in the show, but guest had an opportunity to get glammed up in the braiding station and bold lip bar. It was such a fun add to the event.
