Members of the plus size community have written open letters in the past to fashion designers and to Target, but none of them have been directed to pattern making manufacturers, until now.
The Curvy Sewing Collective, a group of curvy sewing bloggers, recently penned an open letter to pattern companies asking them to think about plus size women when it comes to the design aesthetics and sizing of patterns. In the letter the women of the CSC reassure these companies that with just a few changes, they’ll see huge results.
We want to look fantastic by emphasizing and highlighting our shapes, whether that’s a lovely waist, bountiful bust or curvy bum, shared the CSC.
Many of the things that they mention shouldn’t even up for discussion. Requests for larger bust sizes and inclusiveness in patterns are things that all pattern companies should strive for.
After reading the letter, I completely support their requests. If you support the Curvy Sewing Collective’s list of very reasonable demands, read their letter HERE and share it with your friends.
