My fashion philosophy is simple: Put YOUR spin on it! Visualize for a moment the scene in Wonder Woman where a twirling Lynda Carter in her everyday wear, would magically change into her fabulous super suit right before our eyes; just in time to take on the world. Well, in today’s busy world women often times have to seamlessly transition from work to play while on-the-go. No matter what your style may be, you can add a “spin” to alter any look. Whether it’s by adding fabulous accessories, a pair of haute shoes, or a gorgeous handbag, you can go from day-wear to night-flair in the blink of an eye… just like Wonder Woman!

Fashion empowers me.. to be who I am. When I put on my platform heels I become the real me. When I do my smokey eye I become me. When I put on a sexy pair of jeans I become me. Fashion truly allows me to express myself to people who do not know me. First impression is everything. Fashion is my expression.

Fashion empowers me to express who I am as person in a creative way. You can express a lot of what you are feeling by what you wear, just as well as you can make yourself feel something by wearing something in particular. I love being able to create a whole look that makes a statement to the worlld about who I am and what I am feeling that day.

Fashion then – I grew up feeling left out of fashion, never seeing models that looked like me, not finding styles that were flattering for my shape. I felt my body was broken, was wrong, was distorted. How could it be right when the fashion industry ignored it, when stores neglected it, when society rejected it? So, I squeezed into clothes that didn’t make sense for me, was uncomfortable, and felt ugly.

Fashion today – I have learned that my body is right in every way. My size and my clothes do not determine my self-worth. I am a fabulous woman, with or without clothes. The right fabrics, colors, and shapes will highlight me and my personality. My size is just a number and my clothes are an accent. My size 18-20 is not less valid nor is it less beautiful than a size 6-8. It simply is.

Fashion now – I love the choices I have as a plus size woman. Although my options are limited, I enjoy shopping in stores that include fuller figures and that promote savvy styles for all sizes and shapes. Fashion for me now is about freedom. It is about being me completely on the outside as I see myself on the inside – sometimes conservative, sometimes rockin’, sometimes sexy, sometimes sporty. I no longer have to compromise on comfort to look as good as I feel. I can be my confident glorious self without shame. Fashion has set me free.

Fashion empowers me to become a fierce woman from the outward appearance. But it also empowers that feeling that you might have within yourself to just say, I got this! Naw, baby I own this!!…..Now walk honey!!! lol

Fashion empowers me because it is ME; completely, uniquely ME! I may have similar clothes as other women because we shop in the same stores but only I can wear the clothes the way I do. Vice versa… only you can only wear clothes the way you do. Body shape, colour combinations, accessories, mixing of patterns, footwear, purses, hair colour, your smile, your confidence; all combine to create a look that is completely different then any other person in the world. That is why fashion is so great!

There is nothing like stepping through a door and feeling like the most beautiful woman in the room. Fashion gives you that. It makes you confident in how you walk, how you talk, and how you conduct yourself. Whether at work, on the go, or going out with friends, feeling like you are well put together is what gives you your edge. When you look like a lady, you feel like a lady.
I didn’t always feel comfortable in clothing, but one day realized it was a self fulfilling prophecy. I dressed to hide my body, which reinforced me to feel like I had a body to hide. I now know that I like to show my curves, and fashion gave me that!

    Good question!
So many times I feel insecure and full of “hide yourself” feeling. Then I decide to fight it. The simpliest way is to make myself feel sexy and comfortable. I do my hair and make up but I need more to feel right. When I come up to my wardrobe I know what will look good on me and selectively follows the trends. When I put on beautiful clothes and add heels to it I feel really strong. I could rock the world… Someone could say “they’re just clothes” but for me it’s the power.:)

Being the wife of a disabled Iraqi War Vet and the mother to an Autistic 3 year old daughter is INSANE! Fashion usually takes a back burner to every day life. I would love to work in a career vs. just a job but on such a limited income we just don’t have the money to get me a plus size wardrobe. I wouldn’t change my life for a million dollars, but it would make me feel like a queen to have a few choice pieces to dress up every now and then. Fashion can make anyone feel special!

I feel empowered by fashion because I am able to dress in a way that enhances my body and makes me look and feel comfortable. As a result, I feel much more confident, love myself and my body more, and feel even more inspired to do the things I love.

Fashion Empowers me by allowing me to inspire other women to not run from their bodies, but embrace, embellish and appreciate them. I have had so many friends that follow societies guide for being ashamed of wearing trendy clothes because they are not made for fat women, but I refuse to follow those rules. I am plus, fit and fabulous.
