Comedian Mo’Nique has been a favorite celebrity of ours for quite some time. All eyes were on her when she won an Oscar for her performance in the 2009 film Precious. We were also proud of our fellow curvy girl when it was announced that she would get her very own talk show on BET.
Since The Mo’Nique Show is no longer on the air, it’s been a while since we’ve seen or heard from her so we decided to find out what she’s been up to. Thanks to a tool called, “Google”, looking up someone is a breeze.
According to Mo’Nique, “Skinny Bitches Are Evil”, but after seeing these pictures that she released earlier this year on twitter, I wonder if she still feels the same way.
Her weight loss journey began while she was prepping to host The Mo’Nique Show on BET in 2010. Although the show was eventually cancelled, it looks like her workout routine hasn’t missed a beat.
Despite trying to lose weight, she hasn’t lost her curves. If you’re a curvy girl who wants to get fit without compromising those curves that you love, Livestrong.com offers some great tips:
Participate in strength training exercises at least three times a week. Resistance exercises, such as lunges and squats using hand-held weights, tone muscles on the thighs, calves and buttocks. Do three sets of lunges and three sets of squats three times a week. A set is 15 repetitions. Secondary muscles affected by these exercises include shoulders, back and arms. You can create a balanced, toned shape when you use strength-training exercises that tone the upper and lower body. Your shape will change from flabby curves to shapely curves.
Keep essential fatty acids in your diet while you are on a weight-loss plan to avoid losing your curves. When you burn more calories than what your muscles have stored for immediate use, you burn fat. Your body will burn muscle before fat if you don’t eat enough fatty acids in your diet. The American Dietetic Association says that 35 percent of your total daily calories should come from un-hydrogenated fats, also called “healthy” fats.
