On An Amazing Childhood
I was raised half of my life in the Dominican Republic in a great little town surrounded by a lot of family. When my father whom had lived in the US for about 10 years, was finally able to bring my mom and I to America, I personally had some difficulties getting adjusted. Everything had all of the sudden changed; I was forced to adjust to a foreign language, make new friends, and create new daily routines I was not previously accustomed to. It took a little time, but I began to love my new life, but never ever forgetting the wonderful things I left behind.
On Attending College
College, was hands down the best four years of my life. It gave me the chance to create friendships with the most amazing people. People whom have shaped the woman I am today, and the woman I wish to one day become.
I went to college at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. I graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. A career that sometimes I contemplate if I will ever pursue. However, at this point in life it seams like with modeling and my new business, I will just have to settle with weekend marathons of Law & Order SVU
On Plus Size Modeling
Plus size modeling is one of those amazing blessings that I am thankful for everyday. I have been able to travel and meet the most wonderful and creative people. I have a great agent – Dorothy Combs Models who believes in me and what I stand for, and has truly helped to create the career I have today.
I am so proud to represent plus size women in my career and show that curves are beautiful.
On Being a Business Woman
Being a business woman is incredibly hard work, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I am co-owner of CustomPLUS which is a tee shirt company that provides fitted and personalized tees to women sizes 0-32. We realized that most companies that provided custom tees catered to straight size women only – and neglected the plus size consumer. My business partner Shannon Hiett and I have made it our mission to bridge the gap in the creative and personalized apparel industry. We get so many messages from women who love our tees and who were tired or wearing the boxy, male style tees most other companies provide. It brings a smile to my face knowing I am helping another woman express themselves through our tee shirts.
Personal and Professional Goals
My goal it to empower the plus size woman in everything that I do professionally. Every woman should have the right to feel beautiful and if each day I wake up and help someone feel that way, then my goals feel accomplished.
