BET’s Rip The Runway Features ‘Size Sexy’ Plus Size Designers

Tonight, plus size designers Tennille White, Qristyl Frazier and Monif Clarke will participate in the “Size Sexy” segment of BET ‘Rip The Runway 2012’.

According to BET, this year’s show embodies the theme, “Fun, Freedom, Fashion by embracing a crop of emerging designers, influencer and tastemakers.

The show will feature a number of plus size models, including some models who have walked during the ‘Curves In Motion’ fashion showcase of the International Fuller Woman Expo. Plus fashion blogger and MTV’s first TJ (twitter jockey), Gabi Gregg of GabiFresh will be a part of this year’s show as well.

According to Plus Model Magazine there will also be a special tribute to the late plus size model and PMM’s Creative Editor At Large, Mia Amber Davis who passed away last year.

The show is hosted by Supermodel Selita Ebanks and Pooch Hall from “The Game” with performances by Wale, Meek Mill, Jeremih, Diggy, B.O.B and more.

Although I will tune into tonight’s show, I’m slightly irritated with Black Entertainment Television (BET) for not mentioning the plus size designers participating in Rip The Runway on their website. If I remember correctly, last year they made mention of the straight sized models who participated and I had to really search to find the plus size models who participated. It’s like they purposely don’t want us to tune in and show support.

The show airs tonight on BET at 10pm EST.

I agree with you BET last year gave 0 surrport for the plus size models and the designers. I was not going to watch it this year becasue I did not hear that there would be a plus portion of the show but I will watch this and hope it is a good one and showcases real plus size models not size 8 passing them off as plus size. I will be watching now that I read this and see if it is true.
