If you watch beauty pageants on television, you may think they are reserved for everyone but plus size beauties but alas! There are beauty pageants just for plus size women and the best thing about them is that they are worldwide.
On Monday Jan. 30, 2012 the Brazil plus size pageant took place with plus size women sashaying in bathing suits, beautiful evening gowns and displaying their talents for the world to see.
Entrants in the Miss Brazil Plus Size Pageant had to weigh a minimum of 80 kilogram’s or 175 pounds, setting a different standards for beauty.
The winner of the pageant was Barbara Monteiro who won a $6,000 prize and a 15 day trip to Switzerland to attend a modeling workshop.
Upon being interviewed Monteiro says, “I feel great pride in representing this plus size category and I want to represent them with a lot of class and a lot of love. These people from the plus size universe are so wonderful.”
