The style guru and Project Runway mentor that is Tim Gunn, recently sat down for an interview with Marie Claire about his new talk show called The Revolution and opened up about his views on plus-size fashion. The stigma that plus-sized ladies have fought through for years is the minimal fashion outlets that cater to plus-size fashion. Plus-size fashion has definitely increased during the past decade but is nowhere close to that of “normal size” fashion.
Tim Gunn has apparently adopted the same frustration that we have felt for far too long. “It’s so difficult. Have you seen most of the plus-size sections out there? It’s horrifying. Whoever’s designing for plus-size doesn’t get it, says the Project Runway mentor. In my travels, I’ve been an advocate for larger women. I’ve been talking to designers, but only a half-dozen make an effort. Most say, “I don’t want a woman who’s a size 10 or 11 wearing my clothes.” Well, shame on you! It’s not realistic. We need to address real women with real needs.”
As the old adage goes, “If you want something done right, do it yourself.” This is exactly what Tim Gunn is thinking about doing. He is now thinking about designing his own plus size fashion line for women that will flatter their shape and keep them fabulous! Well Mr. Gunn, I say you should “make it work!”
