Let’s Start the Year off Trendy!
Here are a couple of trends that are making a huge impact on the fashion scene for 2012!!!
Bow Blouse
AK Anne Klein Plus Size Tie Blouse, Macy’s, Vince Camuto Tie Neck Studded Blouse (Plus), Norstrom, Bow Tie Sleeveless Blouse, OneStopPlus.com
As they say, “ Fashion always repeats itself” and these blouses are reminiscent of the 1960′s secretary blouse. This blouse can be paired with a cardigan and pencil skirt for the office or a pair of classic cut jeans and your favorite pair of pumps or booties for a more casual look.
Faux Fur Vest
ELLE Faux-Fur Flyaway Vest – Women’s Plus, Kohl’s, Faux Fur Vest w/ Patent Belt, Ashley Stewart, Faux Fur Vest, Jessica London
I’m going to be honest, at first I thought that fur vests were a bit tacky and gaudy but I always saw them paired with horrible outfits. I have finally seen the light and these vests paired with the perfect ensemble can really turn into a chic look. My favorite look is paring a faux fur vest with a crisp white button down top, skinny cut jeans and a nice pair of knee high boots. The look is clean, chic and fashionable for any age!
Plaid
Plaid Wide Leg Trouser by Lane Bryant, Sonsi, Plaid Pencil Skirt, eloquii, Grey Plaid Button Cape, Torrid
Plaid is definitely making a come back for winter fashions. No longer is this the go to trend for just lumberjacks and school girl outfits. Ladies have found ways to tactfully incorporate plaid items into their ensembles that are standing out in great ways. Plaid button down shirts can be easily paired with any cut of jeans. For the office, pair a plaid shirt with a solid color pencil skirt and add a cardigan if you’d like. Since plaid can be interpreted as a “busy” design, be sure to keep your accessories at a minimum.
Tuxedo Jacket
Kate Fit Charmeuse Jacket, Talbots
The crème de la crème of a polished outfit! Can I say that I LOVE a nice tailored tuxedo jacket and I love how women can take a man’s fashion trend and turn it into a feminine masterpiece! Tuxedo jackets have become a trend in place of wearing regular blazers. As mush as I love adding a blazer to virtually any outfit, tuxedo jackets add a more polished look to your outfit with the pronounced lapels and crisp tailored fit. I personally like the white tuxedo jacket instead of the black; a nice bright, white color will make your outfit really stand out over a black one. Pair this jacket with jeans, slacks, pencil skirts, pretty much any bottom and that is another reason why I like this statement piece: it goes with anything
Anything Purple!
Hayworth Dress in Amethyst, Igigi by Yuliya Raquel, Two In One Dress, eloquii, Felicity Poncho, SWAK Designs Plus Size, Nine West Shoes, Devika Pumps, Macys
Purple has become the shade of the season. It has served as a more colorful alternative to neutral colors and looks great on all skin tones. It’s a color that is sensual, shows personality and exudes a lavish sense of style. This shade works well with casual and dressy pieces.

Oh dear . . . not sure what I think of the return of the bow blouse . . . my mom used to wear them in the 80s! But glad to know that my beloved purple as well as plaid are making a big comeback . . . since I’ll be wearing it anyway *lol*
