Erica Watson will join the cast of the Chicago production of Love, Loss and What I Wore beginning December 6, 2011. Due to popular demand, Love, Loss and What I Wore has been extended through January 1, 2012 with performances at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place in Chicago, Illinois.
I had the opportunity to speak with Erica regarding the premise of the play as well as her theatrical contributions. Erica excitedly shares, “All of the stories weave together to tell a tale of love, loss and what a woman wore during an amazing event in her life. Whether you are short, tall, fat or thin, every woman has a piece of clothing that brings about an emotional response that is genuine, unique and truly her own”.
She continues, “I play various roles in the show. I represent the many diverse voices of plus size women who, like me have a very emotional relationship with their clothes.”
Erica Watson isn’t a stranger to acting and/or being on stage.
In 2009, she appeared in the Oprah Winfrey/Lee Daniels film “Precious,” following starring in the feature film “Dirty Laundry.”
Comedienne Erica Watson is also known for her 1 Woman Show, Fat Bitch which she stars in and directs. The show tackles America’s obsession with weight and stereotypes of African-American women. Most recently, Watson’s 1 Woman Show “Fat Bitch!” was featured on TLC’s hit show “Big Sexy”.
