Los Angeles Laker basketball star Ron Artest has recently changed his name to Metta World Peace. The 6 foot 7 season 13 Dancing With The Stars contestant has caused his share of controversy in the past so I was a bit skeptical when I first read this. According to World Peace’s publicist, it took him years to find a first name that meant the message he wanted to convey.

The Buddhist term Metta means “loving kindness and friendliness towards other.”
