Toronto was abuzz as bold-face names from the world of cinema hit the town to celebrate and screen their latest projects at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. Here, we go behind the scenes with celebrity stylist Creighton Bowman of Exclusive Artists Management—who relied exclusively on a selection of his favorite go-to René Furterer styling products—for an inside look at how he worked his magic to prep his star clients Megan Fox, Ariel Kebbel, Shailene Woodley and Bryce Dallas Howard for their moment in the spotlight.
Tousled Waves for Megan Fox
At the premiere of “Friends with Kids,” Megan Fox was the epitome of red-hot glamour, from her strapless scarlet dress to glowing skin and flowing hair. “For Megan, classic, red carpet-worthy waves were the right choice,” says Megan’s mane man Creighton Bowman.
- Starting with damp hair, I applied René Furterer VOLUMEA volumizing foam from roots to ends.
- Next, I gave Megan’s hair a blowout using a medium round brush, creating a deep side part.
- Using a one-inch-wide curling iron, I then added a few soft waves to frame Megan’s face and fall over her shoulders.
- To help the style last all night, I finished with a quick touch of René Furterer NATURIA dry shampoo, brushing it out to create more volume. A final misting of René Furterer VEGETAL FINISHING SPRAY left a glossy shine and long-lasting hold.
Vintage Glamour for Ariel Kebbel
In Toronto to promote “The Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best,” co-star Ariel Kebbel channeled ‘60s bombshell Brigitte Bardot with a retro pin-up. “Teasing the crown to create a sexy kitten bump gives the look an alluring French accent,” says Creighton.
- For smooth styling, I combed René Furterer VOLUMEA volumizing conditioning spray and René Furterer STRAIGHTENING GEL through Ariel’s hair from roots to ends.
- Next, I did a loose blowout, and curled hair section by section with a medium-barrel curling iron.
- To create the kitten bump, I lightly back-combed the roots at the crown, and then smoothed over the “bump” with a styling brush.
- Last, I pinned back the sides of Ariel’s hair and pulled her hair to the side to spill over her shoulder, allowing loose pieces to fall freely, giving Ariel’s ‘60s allure a modern edge.
Straight and Sleek for Shailene Woodley
Co-starring with George Clooney in the highly anticipated film, “The Descendants,” Shailene radiated star power at the Toronto Film Festival with sleek, shining tresses. “We went for a look that’s young and hip, yet very polished,” says Creighton.
- For an ultra-smooth look with a luminous finish, I combed René Furterer OKARA radiance enhancing spray through towel-dried hair, and then worked in a little René Furterer STRAIGHTENING GEL from roots to ends. The gel also not only protects against the heat of the blow-dryer, it also speeds up the drying process.
- Next, I did a blowout with a flat Mason Pearson styling brush.
- After misting on René Furterer GLOSSING SPRAY, I flat-ironed sections with my Babyliss flat iron. The heat of the iron helps to seal in shine.
- Last, a once-over with René Furterer VEGETAL FINISHING SPRAY provides extra hold while also keeping hair silky to the touch.
Glam Ponytail for Bryce Dallas Howard
At the premiere party for her new film, “50/50,” Bryce Dallas Howard lit up the room with her signature flaming red tresses pulled into a high ponytail with face-framing fringe. “Her look was all about effortless glamour,” says Creighton.
- To build body, I started with damp hair and combed René Furterer FIORAVANTI shine enhancing no rinse detangling spray through the ends, and then applied René Furterer VEGETAL MOUSSE at the roots.
- Next, I gave Bryce’s hair a blowout using a medium round brush to give more body with a little kick at the ends.
- Once hair was dry, I back-combed hair at the crown to add a little height, and then pulled hair into a high ponytail.
- A light misting of René Furterer GLOSSING SPRAY enhanced shine, while René Furterer VEGETAL FINISHING SPRAY added lasting hold and tamed any flyaways. The result: easy elegance for Bryce.

Great post I’ll try this hair style with my Karmin Salon Pro clipless curling iron, I bought it at safrons, it works pretty good and makes really beautiful curls
