Achieving BIG Volumaxed Curls

I always receive compliments about my big bouncy curly hair. Achieving my volumaxed hairstyle is extremely easy. Start out by shampooing your hair with your favorite shampoo, followed by a light weight conditioner. I only use the conditioner around the parameter of my hairline. I typically use quarter size amounts of Mizani conditioner. I do not use the conditioner throughout my whole head because it tends to weigh my hair down. I rinse out my conditioner with cool to cold water. The cool water helps to close the cuticles and allows the hair shaft to shine. I blot the access water from my hair with a towel and apply a leave in conditioner all over the head and I concentrate on the ends. I use Motions Leave in Conditioner during this step.

I use my blow dryer and a paddle brush to dry my hair and work in the product. After drying you can feel that your hair is soft. While my hair is still hot I spray it with Mizani oil sheen and flip my hair over and blow dry my hair once more. When I flip my hair back over it is very full. I section off my hair and flat iron each section, concentrating on the roots. After the hair is straight I will use a ¾ barrel curling iron to curl each section starting my curl from the root and working the ends around the curling iron. I will then use a duck bill clip to secure the curl to my scalp while the piece of hair is still hot from the curling iron. After my hair is all clipped, I typically move on to my makeup so my hair has time to cool off.

After about 15 minutes I unclip the curls and you will notice how bouncy the curls are. I then use my paddle brush to rake through the curls to separate them and shape the top of my part. I then use TRESemme extra firm hold hair spray. I love the smell of the product as well as the holding power. I also use John Frieda’s flexible hold hair spray to give the curls a long lasting bounce.

Other tips to achieve volume;

A fresh hair cut can also add volume, especially if your ends are trimmed with a razor. If your hair is longer, having your hair cut in layers that also frames your face can give your hair that extra boost. Also using a round metal brush can also help to boost the volume while blow drying.

I believe that big hair is sexy hair, so try these tips to achieve big hair that’s all your own.
