There are several women in today’s society are that are really making a mark for themselves against all odds. They are intelligent, they are determined, and they are fashionable. Let’s take a look at the personal styles and signature pieces that these inspirational women rock on a daily basis!
Michelle Obama
It should be no surprise that I start a women empowerment article with the First Lady of the United States. Mrs. Obama has been prevalent in the public ever since President Obama announced his plans to run for 2009 presidential campaign. She represents herself with style, grace and wonderful charisma. Her fashion styles are a spot on representation of her personality. She tends to wear knee level pencil skirts, cardigans, A-line dresses and ankle length chinos for those days in the garden. She creates a great balance between stately and contemporary styles, a perfect combination for a First Lady of the new millennium!
Hillary Clinton
While we are speaking of women in the political world, let’s mosey on to Hillary Clinton. Now Hillary deserves several kudos for her efforts while in the public eye. First kudos: respectfully handling personal situations that were blown up by press and keeping the U.S. focused on the country and not her husband’s extracurricular activities. Second Kudos: getting a makeover! We all remember those pictures of Hillary from the 1960s with huge beetle eyeglasses, flat, lifeless hair and a wardrobe that screamed for your nearest Goodwill Store. Now she can be seen with a very cute short cut, contacts, and a pants suit that is feminine and fits just right. What I really enjoy about her pants suit styles is that she is not afraid to wear a bold color! Bring on the royal blues and fuchsia!
Beyonce’
Oh Beyoncé! How can I sum up the fashion of the biggest female pop star in the world? Beyoncé’s fashions can be translated into many styles. She is edgy, she is elegant, and she is casual. I have noticed that no matter what she wears, the end result must be a sky-high pair of heels. Whether it’s a calf-length pencil skirt that accentuates her perfect physique or a plaid shirt with jeans, her heels always makes the ensemble pop.
Madonna and Lady Gaga
I had to put these two ladies together. As many have stated, Lady Gaga is the Madonna of this decade. Though Madonna is still very dominant in the music industry she has simmered down her fashion choices and wears more subdued styles as of late. However, Madonna back in the 80s and 90s and Lady Gaga now, have taken huge risks in their fashion choices. Sometimes, Lady Gaga doesn’t even wear clothes…sometimes it’s food! I applaud both for choosing to LEAP outside of the box and wear their own interpretations of fashion. However, I must say that at this point, the outfit that would surprise me the most from Lady Gaga is jeans and a t-shirt!
Sarah Jessica Parker
She is actually one of the first women I think of whenever I think of fashion. Her eye for style combined with her dominant standing in Hollywood has proven to be a great combination to disseminate the latest fashion trends. Lest we forget how many women rushed to the store to get their first pair of gladiator heels after we saw Sex in the City? Her style is courageous and it can either be a trend that will spread like wildfire or a look that would only be right for her taste! SJP is a woman who feels that fashion is not a luxury but a necessity and I completely agree. Not having a style is like not having a personality. She perfectly epitomizes a New York girl with a flair for style!
Tyra Banks
This woman definitely works hard for the money! Supermodel, actress, television host, producer… the list goes on. Tyra has definitely made herself a household name, thanks mainly to her modeling reality show, America’s Next Top Model. Tyra’s fashion shows that she is a woman about her business but her style still shows her femininity and the fact that she knows a thing or two about the fashion world. Her wardrobe was usually a bikini or lingerie featured by Victoria’s Secret but she has proven that she knows how to put together an ensemble or two! Since Tyra is more of a business woman now, she tends to wear form fitting dresses and business casual looks that exudes a confidence of a woman in power.
