Are you happy? Weird to start an article with a question, right? But, I want you to really sit, close your eyes and calmly ask yourself, “Am I happy?” Many of us will take that question and have a quick yes or no answer. It’s simple enough. But this is a question that requires more than a blanket answer. I want you to take this question and apply it to these areas of your life: relationships, career and personal fulfillment.
Let’s talk relationships. Married or in a monogamous relationship are you and your partner in a good place? Are the communication and respect flowing between the two of you in unison? Are you at a place that you feel a sense of enrichment from being with this person? Is the intimacy great but the emotional is not? Do you need the two to make you feel complete?
Let’s talk career. Are you in a career that you love or are you just working to pay the bills? Are you in a place for growth potential, and if not have you engaged an opportunity to pursue your dream career goals?
I’ve posed a lot of questions, and as you can see that Happy question isn’t so simple, right?
Now, let’s talk the “Holy Grail” of happiness!! Yourself! Are you really happy with YOU? One of the most important things I want you to remember is this, “Personal Fulfillment will be your foundation to feed the other areas of happy in your life.” If your inner happiness is compromised chances are you will not have a fulfilling relationship. Your partner may deal with issues of your insecurities, trust and lack of esteem. In comparison your career and goals for moving forward are derailed as a result.
Many of us are defined by what we do for a living and how we support ourselves and our families. It provides us with a sense of accomplishment and self worth. If you’re lacking confidence and drive how can you realize your dreams of that career you’ve always wanted?
So, how do we get to a place of complete happiness? We women have to be so many things for so many people. We oftentimes get lost in it all. But, you have to take stock and inventory of your life. The things and people that have provided unhappy for far too long in your life need to go! And that may not come over night. Change is difficult but often times very necessary. You have to surround yourself with good people and relationships that are supportive to you as an individual. And you must take good care of yourself. Find peace amongst the madness in everyday life and take good care of your health.
I truly believe that happiness is a life’s effort. Unhappiness is a given. It will creep in at any moments notice and invade our “home.” The key to it all is having the courage to close the door in it’s face when it’s knocking! When you are strong, confident, and empowered by hard work and discipline you can accomplish anything! Unhappiness is a choice. Life can be tough and challenging. But, our greatest gift the Lord has given us is LIFE! Waking up each day is a gift and new opportunity to Love, Peace and yes HAPPINESS! I wish you all the best in LOVE AND LIFE!
