This month’s “Men That Love Our Curves” comes in the form of a poem. Terrell K. Mercer is from Suffolk, Virginia and is a spoken word artist who uses his passionate voice and poetry to empower others.
When asked what he loves about plus size women his reply is simple, “their confidence”.
AY YO BIG GIRL…WOW if I every approached you in that manner it would take me steel laced nerves
Instead I’d rather accept the fact that I was drawn to you by your confidence & your curves
No I’m not trying to flatter you or butter you up for sex
This is no fetish but a preference to explain at times for me is complex
For to describe my borderline infatuation where could I begin
Would I sound crazy to say I prefer the soft plushness of your skin
Even Gods word says He hath made everything beautiful in his time
Like now I find beauty in the fact my arms won’t go all the way around your waistline
But that’s great because I’m supposed to be holding your hand not my own
Your two times the woman many magazine covers have shown
So walk by , no stride by in slow motion almost like the Matrix
Your entire body swaying & saying, “No other can replace THIS.”
I hope I don’t offend you as I admire your strut
Noticing the way your clothes accent your curves like it was tailor suited & cut
Let me not stare too long before folks think I’m trying to idolize
Yet you look so good in the skin your in & let no one tell your otherwise
If I ever not compliment you on your beauty then I must be having an off day
Just know no way, no how I’d ever look at you the wrong way
Some say Monet brush strokes couldn’t capture you that’s why his best work were landscapes
Cause only the creator could capture the beauty of your varying sizes & shapes
From the big & beautiful, super-sized to pear
I love the fact that the maker chose to put a lil something extra right there & there
For just the sight of you ignites a spark which leads to a fire
This is the best way to explain my appreciation for you, admiration & desire.
