Even though we can’t wait for that summer sun; sun burns and dry skin can really cramp your style! Take some tips from the DIY-guru himself. David Parker, Co-Owner and “Cosmetic Chef” of The Body Deli (www.thebodydeli.com) provides innovative, wallet-friendly tips for using up the forgotten ingredients in your pantry.
Sun Worshiper Bath
It’s easy to “forget” to throw on some SPF over summer’s fleeting, 48-hour weekends. Monday morning isn’t very fun though, when you look like a lobster and you’re forced to wear your business threads! If you’re fair skinned (or just a little over confident about your tanning abilities!) try this soothing, homemade bath solution to remove the “burn” from your sun burn.
- 2 cups colloidal oatmeal (or regular ol’ instant oats, ground up in a blender)
- 1 cup baking soda
- 3 cups buttermilk (you can make this at home by adding 2 tbsp of vinegar to every 1 c. milk)
-Draw a warm/room temperature bath and mix the “batter”
-Place a towel behind your neck (and even some cucumbers on your eyes) and rehab your body from your beach bummin’ weekend
This bath is a miracle worker for relieving the pain and discomfort of severe sunburn. Do bath once a day to help accelerate the healing process.
Organic Green Goddess Facial Masque for Dry Skin

DIY beauty products are so wonderful! I get tons of free beauty products because of my website, but when I want to have a really relaxing, pampering night, I’ll make a brown sugar scrub and include my favorite carrier and essential oils. It’s nice to decide what scents I feel like for the evening and make my own product.
