I have lived my whole life in this plus size body,sometimes happy about it and at other times totally dismayed. As a young girl there were no Plus size role models except NELL CARTER and a few others. But their roles were limited to playing someones mother or an unhappy person. As a Speech and Theatre major I learned early on how to channel emotions into “creativity” so writing and performing have been my sustenance. Unfortunately I still have the fever…to see what I could do if given an opportunity. No longer in my 20′s I am faced with that age old question …”Am I too old for this?” “Is it time to give up on the dream?” Never have I ever been a quitter! So my answer is to forge ahead and keep trying until there is no breath in my body! What about the mature woman model???? What if you have been told all your life how beautiful you are…and then find very few place to celebrat that “BEAUTY”. Well Thank God a movement came and all of a sudden they were throwing around terms like “THICK” and “PLUS SEXY” and no more of the Grandma dresses cut down to fit! I was releived yet disheartened. Even in the industry that is suppose to embrace all that I represent I still see models who by most standards are not considered PLUS size! Well I have continued my journey and here I am to make the best of it. I will release my book before the winter “DIARY OF A BBW!” I do spoken word and am an amateur model in my own right! Still feel like I have yet to be validated at 5′ ft 3 inches and 200 plus a few…I am still looking for a place to BELONG!

Oh Torrid…I love your stuff. But NONE of it is worthy of wearing to work. Your dresses & blouses rarely have sleeves & your skirts are way too short.
Please consider adding some classier clothing to your line for women to work for a living!
