Life and Style… Curvy… Daily Venus Diva, the Lifestyle Magazine for Women with Curves

Happy Mother’s Day, Month & Year

I thought I would never write this month’s letter. Leading up to the start of May, I was in full planning mode and it seemed like time was going faster than I expected. Between planning the Prom Event for the Pretty Girl Project, attending my bestfriend’s birthday party and planning my son’s 13th birthday celebration, I felt as if I had 14 hours in a day instead of 24 and there was nothing that I could do to get the other 10 hours back.

I’m happy to announce that my busy weekend has finally come to an end and I can take a much needed break (at least for now).

As a mother and nurturer, I often finding myself taking on roles before I realize it but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love caring for my family, being there for my friends and just staying busy.

As mentioned above, with the beginning of the month of May, comes the 13th birthday of my son Kion. I don’t have any biological children but in my heart Kion is my biological child. When I took a vow to his father, I took a vow to my son. I vowed to ALWAYS be there for him and to be a constant influence positive in his life. I vowed to discipline him when needed and to praise him when he’s accomplished something great. I vowed to be his mother.

When I talk about my relationship with my son people are often surprised that I’ve taken such an important role in his life and tell me how much of a good person I am. What they fail to realize is that it is my job and my pleasure to be in his life.

Nothing negatively affects a child more than adults walking in and out of the life of a child. When you take on the role of a parent (by marriage), nothing or no one should interfere with you creating a lasting relationship with that child.

So this weekend as I head to Zap Zone for Laser Tag and go-cart racing to celebrate my son’s birthday with my blended family I want each of you to take an interest in someone who could use your support. It doesn’t have to be family member, it could be a complete stranger. By showing children that you care and by becoming a positive influence in the life of a child you are laying the groundwork for a remarkable child to become a remarkable adult.

Happy Mother’s Day, Month & Year,
