Ashley Kauffman was excited to attend a recent American Idol results show taping only to be taken aback by a staff member moving her 5 rows behind her original front row seat.
This morning on Good Morning America, Ashley revealed how staff members of AI discriminated against her because of her weight. Looks of disgust resulted in her and 2 other friends being separated from her original group of 6. In her interview she made sure people understood that she didn’t get moved to an isolated area alone but she was escorted to a different seat in a different row. According to AI representatives what happened to Ashley had nothing to do with looks and everything to do with seating.
I find that hard to believe…….
American Idol has placed an emphasis on weight in the past. Simon Cowell made a cruel comment about season 6 contestant Mandisa and her weight. He even went as far as to elude that they may need to get a larger stage. Although he eventually apologized, I’m a true believer that his initial statements were his true feelings so I find Ashley’s accusations completely believable.
In the interview with Robin Roberts she stated that she does not want money or fame, she merely wants an apology. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for.
Thoughts?

I agree she deserves a public apology. I remember the Simon Cowell’s comment and as BBW, I was offended and cried for Mandisa and I loved how she openly forgave him for his ignorance.
I agree!!! She deserves an apology!!! This is a classic example of how fickle hollywood is when it comes to women and size!! It’s sickening!!!!
WOW it’s amazing how superficial people are.
