Starting this spring Queen Latifah will produce and star in an AOL Web series about sports, entertainment and entrepreneurialism. The show will be featured across the AOL Network with a special hub on AOL’s Blackvoices.com. Overseen by Arianna Huffington, viewers will be included in crafting future content.
A sports-themed talk show for women is the one area Latifah is particularly keen about: “I’m kind of the Barbara Walters. I’ll definitely float in and out,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter.
This partnership will allow Latifah appeal to AOL’s larger reach, 15 million to be exact. It also shows viewers that AOL offers creative flexibility.
AOL CEO Tim Armstrong is actively enlisting Hollywood celebs as the focus of a number of web series. To date, Heidi Klum, Gisele Bundchen, the Jonas Brothers and others are on board with AOL.
