Entertainment Tonight Features The Lane Bryant Fashion Show and gave viewers a sneak peak at the next Lane Bryant commercial featuring the beautiful plus sized model Ashley Graham.
Our Editor, Stephanie Penn-Danforth had a recent conversation with Lane Bryant’s VP of Marketing, Jay Dunn. When asked if the publicity from last year’s ad was good or bad, he had this to say, “we viewed it as great publicity! He continued, “We did not set out to make a controversial commercial. We thought we shot a beautiful advertisement so we were surprised when we ran into resistance”.
Mr. Dunn confirmed that none of the networks approached about this year’s ad had a problem with it. Their decision to air this commercial on cable television (Bravo, OWN, Lifetime, etc.) ensures that the Lane Bryant demographic is reached.
Many are wondering if this commercial will start another “Plus Size Controversy”. I find it very interesting that the skinny Victoria’s Secret models can be aired on TV half naked with extremely provocative commercials but when a size 16 model is shown briefly being confident in lingerie the question gets asked, “Is this ad too much for TV?” I would love to hear your thoughts! Please give us your take on this.

Loving this. Thanks..Steph for this feature and video.

Thanks but we have Limarie to thank for the video.
Thanks Stephanie, this was excellent! I would love to know what our Venus Divas think about this?
WOW! I still can’t believe that it was such a controversy! I’m sure the reason for no one complaining now is because it’s more accepted of plus size women. I think it’s wonderful that Lane Bryant is doing these kinds of ads to show off the curvy plus size women!
Sorry…LiMarie…great video and story. Not sure why I figured Steph did it. This is all due to me turning 39 this year! LOL.
Still loved this!! Great job.
Curvy hugs,
Olga
I know why….because it mentioned Stephanie in the feature..lol…much better I thought I was losing my mind!
Curvy hugs,
