Who doesn’t love Kisses!
Size acceptance is on the rise with the plethora of events dedicated to the plus-size community. Tracie Collins, Founder/Executive Producer of Kiss the Curves, LLC, a plus-size fashion event organization that features realistic models of all body types on the runway, has teamed up with The American Diabetes Association this year to not only continue to promote size acceptance in her runway shows but also health and wellness within minority communities.Scheduled for March 18-20, 2011 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Kiss the Curves – Hollywood Kiss has successfully secured several noteworthy professional panelists to spearhead a discussion for March 18th on the growing epidemic of high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes cases that are crippling the lifespan of women. The panel will discuss solutions that include remaining confident at any weight or size but understanding the importance of proper diet and exercise to live a healthier lifestyle and decrease the chances of being diagnosed with such illnesses. The panel will be hosted by Shay Moore from Atlanta’s People Station V-103 and include panelists such as Celebrity Chef and Flavor Caterer owner, Nikki Shaw, as seen on VH1’s show Basketball Wives and Valerie Lodeum from The American Diabetes Association’s subdivision Live Empowered, which is an initiative that provides outreach and educational efforts to African-Americans about diabetes.
The eclectic showcase of designers on the runway this year includes Levi Strauss & Co., who will feature their new Curve ID denim line for the curvaceous woman, as well as Torrid, Sean John, Pinup Girl Couture, and Ashley Stewart, to name a few. Professional makeup artistry will be provided by Just Glam Cosmetics along with hair styling products from Nu Expressions, courtesy of Leroy Thomas owner of Salon Manaz in Richmond, CA.
