Each month we are showing our support for a non-profit/ organization that we feel are relaying a positive message to the women they speak to. This month’s charity spotlight is on the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women campaign.
GRFW is the American Heart Association’s nationwide movement that celebrates the energy, passion and power of women to band together and wipe out heart disease, the #1 killer of American women and men.
There are a number of ways to get involved:
Wear something Red
Celebrate National Wear Red Day on February 4, 2011 by wearing something red. Wear a red sweater. Ask the men in your life to wear red. Pick a day where you and your friends all show up to work in red, set up a fundraising page, donate now, or Shop Go Red to support the movement. Save 20% at Macy’s when you Wear Red into any Macy’s location nationwide to shop (The Wear Red Sale runs 2/2-2/6). You can also purchase the Red Dress pin for $2, support AHA and save!
Support Other Go Red Women
Give or receive one-on-one support from other Go Red Women by creating a unique profile that describes your experience with heart disease. This will allow other women to find you easily when searching for a match.
Have A Go Red Get Together
You can make a difference — and have fun doing it! Get together with friends, neighbors, family, coworkers, church members and speak up about the Go Red For Women movement to stop heart disease.
Donate
If you don’t have anything red to wear or there isn’t enough time for you to rally your friends together, a monetary donation will always help save the life of a someone or increase awareness.
