MTV’s Made recently featured Camp Shane and American Idol/plus size model Joanne Borgella as they help a teen become a plus size model.
MTV’s Made is known for giving kids the courage to live out some of their dreams. Over the years, teens have received help from industry experts as they pursue their dreams.
On Friday, January 21st, MTV’s Made featured a new episode placing the spotlight on Camp Shane, a leader in the weight loss camps industry. On this particular episode camper Emma received help in achieving her dreams of becoming a plus size model. The episode, titled “Liking My Reflection,” followed Emma as she struggled with her self-esteem on the journey to loving herself and becoming a healthier and happier person.
Emma was coached by plus size model and American Idol finalist, Joanne Borgella. During the episode Emma revealed that she could not recall the last time she had ever exercised prior to coming to Camp and talked about feeling so unhealthy that she had “an expiration date.” By her last weigh in at the episode’s conclusion, she had lost a total of 56 pounds and modeled clothes on the runway in a local fashion show.

I like MTV’s Made and love Joanne Borgella’s work. I missed that episode but I’ll be looking for a replay. I think it is wonderful when kids are given an opportunity to pursue their dreams and are encouraged to love themselves…but it doesn’t happen overnight like the show leaves many feeling. Loving yourself is an everyday thing and surrounding yourself around positive people is really important because positivity is contagious!

I am hoping to catch up and watch the show..I heard she did an excellent job with mentoring this young woman to be proud of herself..I got to meet the gorgeous,beautiful Joanne Borgella where she was the hostess for a great cause for our country of Haiti. She came out to support a great cause for Haiti’s impact on the earthquake and I was part of this great ensemble fashion showcase. One of my favorite plus curvy models. She is as beautiful in person as she has a beautiful soul. Love this article. She truly derserve this honor!
