A little over a year ago, the world started chattering and taking notice of the power that plus size women have and they haven’t taken a chance to breath yet. Many of us are well aware of the online magazines, blogs and organizations that represent women with curves, but it’s always nice to receive recognition in a nationally printed publication for the amazing things we do.
We’ve picked some of our favorite glossy magazine covers featuring plus size women of 2010:
After her award winning performance in Precious, Gabourey Sidibe graced the March cover of Ebony magazine. With only one major movie under her belt, Gabby proved that she deserves to be a household name.
French Elle featured plus size models for the first time in April 2010 Issue. This special plus size issue was dedicated to plus size models and featured plus size model Tara Lynn in their ‘Special Rondes‘ issue.
Jill Scott graced the cover of Essence Magazine in their May 2010 issue. In the feature interview she talked about the joys of motherhood, her role in Why Did I Get Married Too and new music.
MTV’s First Twitter Jockey and Fashion Blogger, Gabi Gregg, is gracing the December 2010 cover of Black Enterprise. Seeing a plus size blogger win something on such a huge stage was amazing.
