Comfy Chic For Plus Size Divas

My favorite seasons are the colorful fall and the frost bitten winter, not just because I was born in December (shout out to my entire Sagittarius family) but because of the great fashions that the season brings. The spring and summer are great (especially living in the Tundra of Michigan), but the fashion trends of fall and winter are always fresh and exciting. My favorite articles of clothing for those nippy winter days are colorful hand woven scarves, sexy leather boots, and of course one of the hottest trends of the season, oversized cardigan sweaters. This trendy success I coined “Comfy Chic.” This New England inspired look when paired with the right accessories, leggings, riding boots , a printed tee and a scarf is sure to bring you the Comfy Chic Swag that a lot of celebs such as Jennifer Hudson, and Zoe Saldana rock daily. Cardigans are appealing for the curvaceous diva, depending on the fit and style; you can hug your curves or tone them down for those comfortable dress down days. The cardigan is no longer just a blue sweater that you wore as a part of your school uniform; this school days fashion has now evolved into an animal print, sequence, bright color trend.

Being the “More for Less” poster child, I decided to browse the streets to see how much I could get this trendy look for. The oversized cardigans, are priced at Old Navy and Target for about $24.00. I also decided to look in local consignment shops, and picked a Saint John’s Bay Cardigan for $5.00 (great buy I know). I purchased leggings for $7.00 at a local department store, a printed tee for $3.00 at Target on clearance, and my scarf was $1.00 at the Goodwill. $16.00 for a fabulous Comfy Chic look! You don’t have to have celebrity money to look like a star.

This is a fun and informative article. As a plus-size professional, I appreciate the attitude that plus sized women can dress attractively on a budget. I get frustrated when I see adorable outfits at stores for the thinner women, and there is nothing similar on the plus-sized side of the store.
