The Detroit fashion scene is rich with vibrant energy unlike anywhere else. I am always inspired by the enthusiam and loyalty they feel for this city. So imagine my excitement when I attended Design.Define.Detroit. (DDD) at the 5e Gallery in Detroit. It was a fashion industry gala that connected all facets of the design together.
A fully stocked panel of design and branding professionals were in attendance to give their perspective of where we are as a viable industry in Detroit and steps we can take collectively to get to the next level. The night ended in a fashion showcase that displayed designs from emerging talent as well as notables in the fashion community.
One of the creators of DDD is Piper Carter, an internationally sought after fashion photographer who has been published in French Vogue, British Elle, and The New York Times; and featured in OK! Magazine, TV Guide, US Weekly and Essence Magazine. She is a native Detroiter and you can feel the love that she has for the city when she speaks. That love trascended into an event that celebrated the style and diversity that is Detroit fashion scene.
I was thrilled to see designs worn by curvy models I have worked with in the past. To see them seamlessly included in the fashion show made me just ecstatic!
In attendance were some very stylish fashionistas! They all had their own individual style that added to the eclectic mix of fashion in the room.
I was fortunate to witness what I hope will be continued support and celebration of this rich design community.

Hi Limarie!! That is why I started on my current path. I really dislike it we are relegated to a section in a show and not included overall. we need a DVD meetup on the real!!
i know I will be in NYC in June for FFFweek.. Olga, Limarie lets make it happen!
