Each year millions of viewers tune into American Idol to watch contestants as they go through the sometime embarrassing audition process on national television. For many, the auditions are more entertaining than the actual show.
If you are a fan of the highly popular FOX television show, you are aware of the changes that AI has received over the years (especially lately). Paula Abdul’s departure as judge after season 8 was preceded by the addition of singer/songwriter Kara DioGuardi as a judge. While that made headlines, after season 9, it was announced that three judges would leave the show; Ellen DeGeneres, Simon Cowell and Kara DioGuardi, leaving Randy Jackson as the only judge remaining from the original set of judges.
P.S. Remember when there were two hosts of the show?
For season 10 which starts airing in January 2011, Randy will be joined by singer/dancer/actress Jennifer Lopez and Rock N’ Roll legend Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. In addition, Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Geffen records, will act as a neutral mentor for the contestants. Although the new judges are extremely talented and well known for many of their accomplishments, many entertainment insiders, performers and viewers wonder if the new judges will be as entertaining as the previous judges were when handing out critiques. I don’t know about you but I already miss Simon’s use of the word “Dreadful”. I’m still in love with the positive outlook from Paula Abdul and her “spirit fingers” hand clap and who can forget Ellen singing the praises of every artist who hit the stage.
If anything, the addition of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez should give the karaoke style talent show the much needed boost it needs to keep the attention of fans and hopefully continue for another 10 seasons.

Wow, I can’t believe they got such huge stars to take over. So much for them dying out quietly. Should be a great season.
I know I sound bitter but I love that show but cannot accept the fact that J-lo who cannot sing to save her life is now judging the real talent that America has to offer. I will not be watching this show, ever again.
