Aretha Franklin has made it very clear……she wants nothing but the best when it comes to her highly anticipated bio-pic. The Queen has secretly met with some of today’s leading black actors and actresses to discuss the upcoming film. This list includes Denzel Washington and Terrence Howard, for roles in the film based on her Autobiography “Aretha: From These Roots.” If everything goes as planned, Washington will play her father, Rev. C.L. Franklin and Howard will be Smokey Robinson her close friend and Miracles front man.
Her top pick to play young Aretha is Halle Berry. Not a stranger to starring in bio-pics, Berry previously portrayed Dorothy Dandridge in the made for television movie, ‘Introducing Dorothy Dandridge.’ Actress Nia Long is being asked to play the Aretha’s sister, Erma Frankin and she wants heartthrob Blair Underwood on-board to play her brother and long-time manager Cecil Franklin.
Aretha Franklin recently stated, “These actors are enthusiastic about the project and have agreed to take on these roles subject to further negotiation.”
