As a child none of us knew exactly where babies came from yet we all played with Cabbage Patch Dolls, Rainbow Brights and life-like baby dolls. My parents did a great job preserving my innocence that I don’t even remember when the subject of babies and sex were discussed in my house. Growing up my friends and I used our imaginations to come up with what believed to be valid explanations regarding child birth.
As grown ups, we now know where these little bundles of joy come from (I hope) but here are some of the colorful places we thought babies came from as children:
- God puts a baby in your stomach when you get married
- Babies fell from the sky in baskets
- Babies are dropped off by a pelican
- Babies are picked up from the local pharmacy
- Babies popped out of a girl’s bellybutton.
- Gypsies left babies on adults door steps
- Kissing led to pregnancy
