Nothing can be worse than knowing that all of your guests at your wedding reception hated every minute of it! Here a few tips that will help you make sure your guests enjoy the party and leave happy.
-
Waiting for the wedding party to arrive- This is one of my personal pet peeves! Having to wait for hours for the bridal party to arrive at the ceremony can be excruciating. Remember to account for taking pictures and the receiving line when noting on your invite when the reception is to start.
-
Purchases during the reception- One of the tackiest things you can do is have items for sale at your reception such as a keepsake photograph or a “stiffer” drink than the water on the table. Your guests brought a gift from your registry, the least you can do is take care of their drinks and offer the keepsake photo at no cost. If these items are not in your budget then the open bar and pictures for purchase should be excluded.
-
Don’t ask for money- Although this is what every newlywed needs, it is really inappropriate to ask for only monetary gifts. You should think about practical gifts that would make your guests feel at ease for purchasing. Honeymoon.com has a honeymoon registry where you can purchase aspects of the honeymoon trip you chose, like a massage at the spa while your there, etc. You also can create a Down Payment Registry where guests can actually give directly to the bank that will hold your mortgage. The monies sent will go directly to the down payment of your home.
-
Hotel Accommodations – If you have guests that will be arriving from out of town, it is courteous to suggest a room close to the event and request a room block at the hotel. If your out of town guest include someone that is in your wedding party, it is proper etiquette to pay for their 2 nght stay.
-
Menu choices- Try to have meal choices that account for vegetarians and those that have an affinity to beef, chicken or fish. Make sure your guests are well informed in the description of what the meal will include. Those with allergies can decide on their own which meal is best for them.
You want your wedding to be the talk of the town for the right reasons, take these top wedding blunders to heart when planning your special day.
