Single and Ready To Mingle So Where Should You Go?

So you decide you’re ready to date. You feel like you’ve been out of the game for a while. Maybe you ended a long-term relationship; maybe you are a widow; maybe you just took a hiatus from the dating scene. At any rate, you’re single, ready to mingle…but where? It seems as though some people are at a loss on where to meet others, outside of clubs and church. So here are a few fresh suggestions if you’re interested in meeting folks:

Professional Mixers. You want to make sure that the mixer is relevant to you in some way, so that you simply aren’t pegged as the person looking for a date. You’ll be avoided like the plague in no time. For example, if you’re interested in getting an MBA, find when the local professional MBA association is having a mixer. Ask questions regarding the degree, the field they work in…and you’ll be more successful in sliding in an offer to talk more over dinner if you meet someone of interest.
Dance Lessons. This is a win-win for the fellas and the ladies. Guys, there are a lot of women who participate in social dance classes. LOTS. Ladies, what’s not to love about a man who knows how to move on the dance floor? Sign up for Salsa, Ballroom or Line Stepping classes and your chances of hitting it off increase (these require pairing up of people…*wink*)
The Gym. Exercise increases mental focus, self-esteem, reduces stress, enriches sexuality and improves body shape. Why would you NOT want to meet someone like that? Hit the gym, find a spotter and take it from there.
Community/Volunteering Events. It feels good to take time out of our life to help others. It’s even better when we meet other people who enjoy doing the same. A lot of times, these organizations have Thank You lunches or receptions for their volunteers. Perfect place to strike up a conversation.

These are just a few suggestions to get the ball rolling. But the truth is, you can meet anyone, anywhere, at any time. So next time you’re out grocery shopping or washing the car, just take a look around and you may just be surprised.
