Emergency Make-Up Bag

Roadtrip style in the backseat!

So, my car is broken down. New fuel pump. Ugh. $500 gone (That could be $500 on clothes!) And it means I left my make-up arsenal in the car, because I always do my make-up on the way to work. (No, I’m not the driver!) And the car has been at the garage for about two weeks now, so I have been without my trust make-up kit for FOURTEEN DAYS. You don’t understand – my make-up kit is a NECESSITY in my life. I don’t go to work or out without make-up on; I just love make-up. I still get giddy when I do my make-up every morning. I’m obsessed with eyeliner and eyeshadow – and of course, my favorite palette, Urban Decay Book of Shadows II is in the car. Along with ALL of my BareMinerals make-up.

So this little beauty is my make-up kit:

1.Hard Candy Ginormous Lash Volumizing Mascara – Remember Hard Candy? They were a GREAT make-up line that was pretty popular in the 90s that was sold at its own website and at Sephora. Well, they disappeared – and I was quite saddened. BUT last year they relaunched exclusively at Wal-Mart, and with an average price range of $7 – it’s AMAZING! They have tons of great glitter eyeliners, eyeshadows, and this mascara which I love. It has a plastic brush that separates lashes well, and it goes on quickly and easily.

2.My back-up minerals – L’Oreal Bare Naturale – not as good as BareMinerals, but a great cheap alternative! I have their version of the foundation and mineral veil. I find them to be a BIT too powdery…it seems the powder often rests on top of the skin then really blending into it.

3.Tarte Cheek Stain in Blushing Bride – Hands down, best blush/cheek stain I’ve ever owned. Goes only lightly, can build for more color and it’s really easy to blend with just your fingers.

4.Revlon Bedroom Eyes in Smoke – I’m a sucker for a smokey eye. I wear copious amounts of eyeliner and I am not ashamed. This was a limited edition item from Revlon and I, personally, think it’s great. It can be REALLY messy if you aren’t careful – but if you tap the brush well and put it on by looking into a mirror that is laying down on a flat surface (great trick my bestie taught me!) no mess! And really, it’s worth it. Such a quick and simple smokey eye!

5.Benefit Firmology - I got hooked on benefit when I lived in England. I went to Williams & Griffin in Colchester (a posh department store) and got a mini-makeover and fell in love with Benefit products. Firmology is a great face cream for toning and smoothing, and also serves as a great “mixer.” The Benefit gal taught me to mix my liquid bronzer with it, and I’ve also mixed foundation before – it’s great!

6.Sebastian Smokey Eye Brush & L’Oreal HIP Gel Eyeliner – The smokey eye brush is my FAVORITE make-up brush ever. I use it for eyeliner and shadows – it’s amazing. Unfortunately, Sebastian went out of business, sorry ladies, it’s ALL MINE! The L’Oreal HIP Eyeliner is really great. It stays on, it’s easy to apply, and it has great pigment. It also comes in grey, teal, and purple. I’m all about high pigment and bright colors – hence me missing my Urban Decay palette so much!

7.Benefit Erase Paste - THE GOD OF ALL CONCEALERS. I have NEVER loved a concealer more than this one. It matches my skin tone perfectly and can literally hide ANY blemish. And it lasts FOR MONTHS. I’ve had this jar for over a year with regular use. I seriously cannot live without this concealer – I even bought a jar for my sister.

8.Lancome Artliner & Napoleon Perdis “Russia” Shadow - I am a huge fan of Lancome – I have lots of their shadows, eyeliners, and used to use their foundation until it was discontinued. The artliners are great for an easy, clean line that doesn’t smudge. This is my go-to liner when I am in a hurry. Unfortunately, most of the colors that I have, like Star Shower, are now discontinued, but they do sell sell it! The Napoleon Perdis Shadow was originally at Target – I got it on clearance. I like to use it over my eyeliner – it has two colors, a deep shimmery purple shade, and a silver, which is good to open up your eyes in the corner.

Do you have an emergency make-up kit? What’s in it? What can’t you LIVE without?
