Life and Style… Curvy… Daily Venus Diva, the Lifestyle Magazine for Women with Curves

Lane Bryant is Censored By ABC & Fox

If you open up any magazine or tune into any television show, you are likely to be greeted by a women in the nude or wearing lingerie.  We have become a society of acceptance and the things that were once viewed as taboo are now the norm.

With the word “censor” being a thing of the past, I was surprised when I read that ABC and Fox decided against wearing a Lane Bryant lingerie ad.  One would think that they don’t air racy ads but that is not the case.  According to LB’s Inside Curve blog, “ABC and Fox have made the decision to define beauty for you by denying our new, groundbreaking Cacique commercial from airing freely on their networks.”  The ad was originally available on Youtube but has been removed from there as well.

Network executives were apparently unhappy with the amount of cleavage revealed by the plus size lingerie models.  If anyone is offended by seeing plus size women in lingerie then they should be offended with seeing smaller women in lingerie.  Regardless of your size, lingerie is revealing.  This has never been the case with the Victoria’s Secret fashion shows that air on network television longer than a 30 second spot. It’s disturbing that execs have a problem women and a brand that represents over 60% of American women.  This is such a contradiction!

The ad is no different than the messages that are displayed in suggestive ads featuring models and/or celebrities that dominate mainstream television or the compromising situations that ABC’s very own ‘Desperate Housewives’ find themselves in.

Judging from the buzz this blatant form of disrespect and double standard has garnered, it’s obvious that Lane Bryant is not going to take this without a fight.

We will try our best to keep you up to date on this story.

This is unbelieveable!! So NYPD Blue and other controversial shows that aired partial nudity on ABC and the Kardashian sisters in there bikinis commercials airing during their telecasts is ok?????? Fox who for years have been known for their controversial shows and subject matter thought that it was too much????

Lets not forget a very racy athletic shoe commercial I saw on ESPN recently, ABC’s parent company, that is supposed to help with toning your rear end. You would not have known that was the focus for all the camera shots focused directly on the buttocks in bikini’s, short shorts, etc, which shocked even my husband! this is crazy….

  2. Fashion Luvr says:

The ads are back up! Check them out and support plus-size women!

  3. Why am I not surprised to see a double standard going on when it comes to the plus-sized woman? I am disappointed that society says it is okay to play those racy Victorias’s Secret commercials but decides that a plus sized lingerie commercial is out of the question….I am about to check the link out now and see what the deal is.

  4. ….Like I said…double standard. This video is actually more tasteful than Victoria’s Secret tossing and turning in nude colored underwear under satin sheets LOL!

  5. Cassy you are not lying with what you mentioned above either girl! I was like is this a cemmercial for sneaks?!
