KFC’s Double Down Sandwich May Be Dangerous

A while ago I saw a commercial for the KFC Double Down Sandwich and since I never saw it again I assumed the FDA recalled the “sandwich” for being a hazard to the health of people worldwide.

I was wrong!

The Double Down  has resurfaced it’s greasy little head and is taking over fast food patrons one by one. Upon seeing the Double down, some may think it’s healthy since it is a low carb diet…I guess. But that couldn’t be further from the truth.  Plus I always thought a sandwich isn’t a sandwich without the bread.  How can you have a sandwich without bread? It seems wrong!

If you’re wondering what the Double Down is, here is the description on KFC’s website:

This one-of-a-kind sandwich features two thick and juicy boneless white meat chicken filets (Original Recipe® or Grilled), two pieces of bacon, two melted slices of Monterey Jack and pepper jack cheese and Colonel’s Sauce. This product is so meaty, there’s no room for a bun!

So if you’re watching your figure, KFC has been kind enough to give us a healthier version (the grilled Double Down). Now that’s what I call customer service.

But don’t let it’s external appearance fool you. According to the KFC website the original version and grilled version has only 540 and 460 calories respectively. I find these numbers very hard to believe but who am I to dispute it.

I can honestly say I will probably never try this and chances are it will be gone soon. But if you’ve tried the Double Down, let me know what you think.

A while ago I was shown a website with all the disgusting combinations of food (which also happen to be calorie bombs) that one can find in the States. This thing definitely deserves a place there, it simply gives chicken a bad name! Does it really “taste like chicken”?

  2. Mog says:

My husband tried one (the Original, I believe) yesterday after a 50-mile bike ride (as this was the only time he could justify consuming one), he said his tongue actually hurt from the level of sodium and there was an overwhelming, odd black pepper taste.

We were confused as to why a company would invest so much time and money into producing something like this. Did KFC do a poll for new products and millions of people responded with “I’d like something that you go out of your way to make really unhealthy for me and it doesn’t have to be appealing taste-wise”?

  3. Johnny Vee says:

    Mog, you’re husband’s retarded.
Fast food is there for people who KNOW it’s bad for them to eat, your husband could have just as easily bought a chicken salad. I ate it twice, I’m a bodybuilder, and it does not make people’s tongue’s hurt, your husband should go to a doctor, that isn’t normal.
