Academy Award winning actress MoNique has officially acquired the rights to both produce and star in a biopic of Hattie McDaniel. McDaniel was the first African American to win an Oscar, which she earned for her supporting role in Gone With The Wind in 1932. This news comes only a month after she honored McDaniel at the Oscars by wearing blue and thanking her in her acceptance speech.
