Beyonce Knowles wears many hats. This Grammy Award winning songstress, actress and clothing designer now has a beauty school. Beyonce went to Brooklyn, NY on Friday to celebrate the opening of a school in her name at the Phoenix House.
The Beyonce Cosmetology Center, is based inside the residential substance abuse and recovery house, as a way to teach women and men a life skill so they can get back out into the workforce.
Beyonce and her mother, Tina, came up with the idea of the center together after they visited the Phoenix House in 2007. After growing up in her mother’s salon while living in Houston, TX, she says it {the salon} had a big impact on her life.
The facility, which is decked out like a professional salon, will offer seven-month courses in hair styling, makeup design and skin care. The program is open to both men and women, and walk-in customers are welcome.
She saw a perfect opportunity to not only carry on her mother’s good work, but also return to the facility by opening the Beyonce Cosmetology Center. But this ribbon cutting won’t be the last that Phoenix House sees of the Knowles as both Bey and Tina plan to visit the beauty school from time to time. Tina may be popping in more frequently, though, stating that she plans to be very hands on at the facility.?
The hononary Brooklynite (by marriage) along with her mother have pledged an annual $100,000 to the school.

That’s a wonderful program she’s investing in. Nothing like a skill like that. You can work for someone or yourself or as a part-time job. People in Brooklyn, like myself, always need to get their hair did.
Thanks for sharing.
Loved hearing about this!!!
