Monique has had a pretty impressive career thus far, with many of her milestones taking place in 2009 & 2010. Before she was a Golden Globe, Oscar Nominated talk show host/actress, she was and still is a comedian.
In a recent interview she was asked if she felt like she was guaranteed a win based on her previous awards for her portrayal of Mary in Precious.
“No. No, See, with any of the awards, I don’t never feel like I got this, ’cause I think the universe would say, ‘Really? So you that special that you already know?” she replied.
She’s so humble about all of the praise that she’s received that she hasn’t quit her day job just yet. She’s actually working on a Comedy Tour. The “Spread the Love” tour starts in New Orleans on March 19th.
Monique considers Stand-up [comedy] her first love and she plans on performing until she is 97 years old, if God allows her to.
