Television shows encouraging weightloss are everywhere. From Celebrity Fit Club, One Big Happy Family and the new Kirstie Alley’s “Big Life”, everyone is trying get their weight under control. While some people watch these shows for motivational reasons, we can’t deny the fact that they are entertaining.
As much as we enjoy seeing what will happen next, the rate of obesity is a serious subject and it is the nucleus of many heated debates. I often wonder if the over exposure of weight loss shows serves the purpose it was meant to? Are more people entertained than motivated and once the show goes off, are viewers inclined to gain tips to live a healthier lifestyle from watching these shows.

Weight loss television shows are hurtful. Yes can be both but it depends on who you ask. Moving along…the sole purpose of these shows are not to help these individuals become healthier even though the producers want you to believe that. They are using these shows to mask their criticism. Let’s be realistic, the producers and some viewers do not care about the people on these shows. For example, if you pass them on the streets, you probably wouldn’t say hello.
Society ideals on health is so misconstrue; it is ridiculous. People really need to stop believing everything society tells them and do their own research.
