ABC has officially announced the cancellation of Ugly Betty, starring America Ferrera, saying the last episode will air in April in the U.S. After being moved from their original time slot to Friday night and back to Wednesday, I’m not surprised of the recent announcement. Over the years the once “it” series has seen a decline in viewers.
Based on a Colombian telenovela, the warm-hearted dramedy stars Ferrera with big braces, as an ambitious but style-challenged young woman out to build a future at a New York fashion magazine.
The series has been saluted with Emmy, Golden Globe and Peabody awards. In 2007, Ferrera won a Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding lead actress.
