Frustrated at being ignored by the fashion industry, Stefanie Augusteijn set out to make her mark on the world of Plus Size Fashion by opening SexyPlusClothing.com. Upon entering this super cute online boutique, it’s rather obvious that SexyPlusClothing.com was created with you, the plus size Diva in mind.
In this brief interview, get to know the woman behind this new company and what makes her thrive in a market that means so much to her.

Can you tell me about your company?

SexyPlus Clothing was founded in June 2009 to serve the Canadian and international marketplace. We carry sexy and affordable fashions exclusively for women wearing sizes 14+. Our vast line includes club wear, classic styles, jeans and jean suits, lingerie, costumes, beach/vacation wear, casual gear, gift ideas, holiday selections and more.

We are committed to delivering value for our customers in terms of style, price and service. Our styles are figure flattering, colourful, funky, versatile and fun; we definitely do not have anything boring.

We offer a shopping experience with a personal touch, where customers can contact owner Stefanie Augusteijn to shop in the privacy of her home, or attend a monthly open house fashion party for a more social shopping flavour. Customers can also have the store come to them via our Mobile Store.

Our website is open for online shopping with super low shipping costs so that customers aren’t afraid to order online and try some new styles.

What made you decide to sell plus size clothing?

Firstly, I was laid off from a 10-year marketing management job with Wells Fargo and decided to start my own business. Secondly, because I knew how difficult it was to find sexy and affordable fashions in plus sizes in Canada and wanted to deliver this unique and much needed combination to my fellow curvy women. What sets SexyPlus Clothing apart for other online retailers is that we specialize in cool, funky, urban and classic styles that are affordable, and we are Canadian. We deliver the styles and the prices that are almost impossible to find in Canada, all while keeping shipping costs very low and eliminating import costs for Canadian customers.

What designers do you carry?

We carry some Baby Phat and Apple Bottom styles to provide variety and selection for our customers, but we mostly carry non designer fashions in order to keep our merchandise affordable while still being trendy and classic.
