For many women (young and old), Janet Jackson is synonymous with empowerment and independence. With her first breakout single being Control, I get the feeling that was the intention. When I heard that JJ would be opening the 37th Annual American Music Awards on November 22nd, I pulled my self made Janet Jackson greatest hits album out.
