Many of you may remember Ruby Gettinger from her show “Ruby”. During this insipirational show, Ruby allowed viewers to witness her weight loss on the reality show courtesy of the Style Network. Those looking for a typical weight loss show received so much more. Ruby was not only an inspiration during the show but she continues to empower women and girls off the air.
During the Plus Teen USA Pageant and Conference, Ruby will mentor plus size teens for filming on her show. This event which takes place at The LaQuinta Inn & Suites in North Arlington, Texas takes place the weekend of October 23-25, 2009 and caters to young ladies ages 13-19 who wear size 12 and up (13 in juniors). These young ladies can expect a weekend full of fun, friendship and an overall great time. In addition to being apart of Plus Teen USA Pageant, 2009, which will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, one of the contestants will walk away with the title of Plus Teen USA, 2009, a beautiful crown, a scholarship, the privilege of being on the Summer, 2010 cover of Tiara Magazine, and numerous other fantastic prizes.
On Saturday, October 24, from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., plus size women and teens will join our contestants for “An Afternoon with Sharon Quinn & Friends” conference, which will include plus size modeling tips, training, and individual evaluations from Sharon Quinn, the “The Original Runway Diva” who is infamous for her appearance on the Oxygen Network’s popular “MoNique’s F.A.T. Chance”. Quinn will utilize her modeling expertise to instruct participants on walking with confidence, style, and grace. Conference attendees will also enjoy body image discussions, a “Uniquely You” fashion show by plus pageant titleholders, providing wardrobe consulting for various body types, make-overs and photo shoots for portfolio development, and of course, a delicious luncheon.
