Fall & winter make- up trends are all about big hair, shoulder pads and boom boxes. According to Gita Bass, ”The trends for fall and winter this year are bold, and really run the gamut, including the return of bright, eye-catching makeup that was popular in the 80s.” Make-up artist Gita Bass has created eye-catching looks for celebrities such as Eliza Dushku, Mila Kunisand Keira Knightly so I’m sure she knows what she’s talking about.
Gita Bass offers her tips and tricks to achieve the hottest looks for fall and winter:
* 80s makeup: “Choose shadows for the eye that pop, like turquoise, hot pink or emerald green,” Bass suggests. “Next, grab a pencil liner and blend it up toward the crease. Then press the shadow over the top for an intense layer of color that stays put! Add tons of black mascara for extra definition.”
* Rich earth tones: Deep velvety shadows in moss green, rich browns, slate gray and glorious golds are back for eyes. “Choose your shade and apply on the upper lids from the lash line to the crease, as well as under the lower lash line,” Bass says. “Try using a damp brush to deposit extra rich color. Choose warm soft tones for the rest of your face for an overall luscious fall look.”
* Red lips: Back by popular demand, red lips are still a strong trend this year. “To pull it off, line the lips with a liner that matches your natural lip color and feather it all over your lips,” Bass says. “Apply a bright matte red over the top straight from the tube. Blend the edges of the lip using a stiff lip brush and correct any mistakes with a pointy Q-tip. Blot and reapply, and don’t forget to get the inner corners of your lips.”
* Truly smoky eyes: “Blend shades of brown or taupe with gun metal gray from the lash line to the crease and below the lower lashes,” says Bass. “Be sure to blend well. For a softer look, skip liner all together. If you’re looking for added intensity, try lining only the inside of the lower lash line.”
