Mark Fast, a designer known for his sculpted mini-dresses used three real size models during London’s Fashion Week. His decision to use size 12 and 14 models created tension among others. According to The Observer, “within an hour of his show on Saturday morning, an Elle magazine journalist sent out a tweet saying Fast’s stylist had resigned over his use of the models”.
Fast had been working with size-12 model Hayley Morley for the LFW photography exhibition, All Walks Beyond the Catwalk. The exhibition features models aged 18 to 65, in sizes 8 to 16, wearing outfits created by young London designers. It aims to change the narrow vision of beauty offered by the fashion world.
I think it’s sad that people are unable to embrace women of all sizes. We are all unique and that’s what makes us beautiful. Whether you’re a size 2 or a size 22, you deserve to be celebrated in the most positive and uplifting way.

Bravo Mark West! I think it was cool to use the 12+ models along side the thinner models. I hope that him using thicker models was not the only reason his stylist quit. I personally think his hip hugging dresses looks better on a woman with hips.
i would love to hear what this stylist has to say. i mean what would be that big of a deal from using three girls out at least a dozen that would make a “professional” walk out?
The article i read on the Telegraph http://bit.ly/wUnAn uses very PC language “creative differences” but i want to hear “the argument” from the horses mouth!
whether they disagreed or not -walking out is not professional at all
I completely agree. I wonder if anyone else will ever hire them.
I don’t know why it is just so hard for the world to realize that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. When I see fashion on the runway, I want to know that – hey this might work for my size too and showing a “real sized” model is just the way to do that.
I think I’m in love with Mark Fast! Never mind that I have a boyfriend…
At the very least, I want to give him one great, big hug.
Mark Fast deserves all the positive accolades he’s getting, but I have to admit to extreme anger at people like his resigned stylist. If he/she had resigned over Fast using Jewish models, nobody would sit idly by without labeling them an anti-Semite. This is hatred, pure and simple. And it’s not just hatred of fat women, it’s hatred of ALL women. You cannot pick and choose which women are acceptable. It’s misogynistic and, in this day and age, itself unacceptable.
I wish more women and MEN spoke out against such blatant hatred and discrimination.
Kudos to Mark Fast! You are the new visionary!

Agreed.
YOU GO MARK FAST!
Take the world and make it a more beautiful place use Plus size models and make the world a better place!
I for one am in awe of a fashion designer that is brave enough to put one real woman on the runway, much less three. Mark, your imagination and talent should be recognized. Thank you. You are what the fashion industry needs, to show them that a model that has no breasts or hips, or thighs, can not succesfully model anything.
