We have a few more weeks until the end of Summer but the art of making your hair look great amidst the humidity, sun and heat is a full time job. Daily Venus Diva is all about embracing the here and the now and right now, it’s still hot outside.
NYC Colorist, Joseph Mullen of Blackstones Salon gives us some advice on preserving that summer hairstyle during the final stretch of summer.
However, he cautions that you should ask your colorist for the most appropriate color conditioner for your hair so that you maintain the right tones.
Q. How can I prevent my hair from becoming faded and dry as summer fades and autumn begins?
A. “The best way to avoid faded, dry hair is to stop it before it starts,” advises Mullen. “Of course the best way to avoid sun damage is to cover up, but when this is unavoidable if you know you are going to be out in the sun, use a leave in conditioner or UV protectant product. If the color does fade, have your colorist recommend a color enhancing shampoo or conditioner that matches the hair color you want to keep. Then, use the product once a week or as directed by the manufacturer. This will help control any fading and prevent the dry, flat look that the sun can give the hair.”
Q. How can I reduce frizziness and dryness this time of year?
A. “One option is to consider a treatment like Brazilian Hair Straightening,” explains Joseph. “This treatment will provide smooth relaxed waves without the frizz and with at least half the blow drying time.” Joseph also adds is that it transforms the hair without chemically altering the hair strands, but by sealing the hair in keratin. Keratin is the primary protein of the skin, hair and nails. The use of a keratin-based product adds moisture and strength to hair damaged by blow drying, coloring, and traditional relaxers. It is semi-permanent, chemical free and lasts 3 to 5 months.

I love to color my hair. Adding highlights brightens up your face, especially in the winter time. But do take care when coloring lighter,. Hair become s fragile and conditioning and moisturizes are essential.
