Ruben Studdard is in Love and It Shows

As the season 2 winner of American Idol, Ruben Studdard won over the hearts of Americans with his smooth vocals, charming demeanor and boyish smile. He was even named the Velvet Teddy Bear. After releasing three albums, Soulful (2003), I Need An Angel (2004), The Return (2006), he has returned with his newest release Love Is. As Ruben releases his fourth album, continues touring the country in Ain’t Misbehavin’ and celebrates his first wedding anniversary. Love Is. is helmed by two of the most successful producers in the business, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The collection of love songs features originals as well as covers; including Ruben’s versions of Extreme’s classic hit ‘More Than Words’ and Michael Jackson’s ‘I Can’t Help It.’

“It’s a song that talk about how nothing is better than sticking into a relationship and nothing matters other than the person that you’re with, and everything will work out if you just stay together,” Ruben says. “That’s a really good message for a song.”

“I do a performance in the club, and you’ll see these two workers here that have a relationship… It goes through the complexities of what’s going on with them.”

Meeting his future wife Surata in 2006 at a local Wal-Mart store was the beginning of what would be a perfect love story. While signing some autographs, he saw the woman who would become the inspiration to a great love song on this album and more to come.
